Governance Review

A major Australian live-export company engaged CurbyMcLintock to undertake a comprehensive review of its operations in high-risk foreign jurisdictions. The purpose of the engagement was to assess governance and operational practices, ensure alignment with relevant legislation and industry standards, and strengthen controls aimed at improving animal welfare outcomes and the safety of staff and contractors.
The review involved conducting multiple interviews with key stakeholders across the organisation and examining existing policies, procedures and operational practices as part of a structured gap analysis. Insights from the review informed the development of a tailored risk and governance framework designed to enhance oversight and support compliance across all stages of the export process.
A detailed report was subsequently prepared for the Board, outlining the proposed framework and recommended improvements. The Board adopted the recommendations, providing a strengthened foundation for responsible operations in complex and high-risk international environments.
